This pleasant cafe on top of Mount Lemmon is worth the one-hour drive up the mountain because the owner makes food that you won't find anywhere else in Arizona. It's Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine from Berks County, which has been virtually extinct since 1950 except here on Mt. Lemmon. The owner bakes her own bread and smokes her meat in her own smokehouse. The place exudes European-style Gemuetlichkeit with wooden chairs and tables and white curtains on the windows. A very pleasant spacious patio for outside dining in fresh clear mountain air. The Pennsylvania Dutch crabcakes, served with soup and salad, are highly recommendable at $13. And by all means, try one of the homemade pies for dessert; they're all made from fresh fruit and best when served a la mode.
