The Tattered Cover Bookstore is one of the nation's largest independent bookstores and has become such a Denver shopping landmark that it also serves as a tourist attraction. Three book-crammed floors and a basement hold the store's whopping stock of 500,000 titles. Big, stuffed easy chairs dot the floors and invite browsing, especially in the massive magazine section that also features out-of-town newspapers. A cozy coffee shop on the main floor, adds to the artsy ambiance. In addition the shop hosts more than 500 author signings and lectures each year.
