This is a Memphis tradition, with very non-traditional food. It has occupied this corner on Main since 1919, but the cuisine has been updated with spectacular, prize-winning pizza recipes (featuring pesto, goat cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes), and Portobello mushroom sandwiches at lunch. It is a great place to hop off the trolley between Beale Street and the Civil Rights Museum. Breakfast (pancakes, eggs, biscuits and sausage) is USD5.50-USD7. The plate lunch (meat and 3 vegetables) runs USD5.50. Sandwiches (chicken, Portobello mushroom) are also USD5.50. Pizzas range USD7-USD10.
