This inexpensive Japanese restaurant, located in East Village serves up some authentic Japanese cuisine. Executive Chef Chiyono Murano, has designed a creative menu, with some of her own innovations added to it. Various potato dishes feature on the menu - potato salad, burdock root and potato soup and so on. Try the Umeboshi - pickeled plums that come all the way from Iwaki in Japan, straight out of the chef's mom's kitchen garden. If you're confused about what to order, go for the five-course fixed menu which includes the Ume rice, a specialty that goes well with, Soy-Braised Pork Belly, Kakuni. Also order a cold pint of beer, which will only complement it further.
