Pennsylvania Ballet

1101 S Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19147

The Pennsylvania Ballet, founded in 1963 by Barbara Weisberger, a protégé of George Balanchine, performs its annual season at the Academy of Music and the Merriam. Besides repertory favorites from Lars Lubovitch and Balanchine, the Ballet regularly brings in new choreographers for fresh programs. The yearly production of The Nutcracker, at the Academy of Music, is a Philadelphia tradition. The affiliated Rock School of Ballet trains young dancers from its building a few blocks south on the Avenue of Arts.
