Done up to resemble an aquatic hideaway, Upstream serves seafood in a way unique in Charlotte. In fact, the menu seems to have a bit of an identity crisis, with entrees like Organic Scottish Salmon and Sake Marinated South American Sea Bass making attempts at cultural harmony. The Asian flavor of the place ends up dominating, and many fine sushi offerings can be had at the sushi bar or at a table. While the small space is usually packed and somewhat noisy, Upstream is a worthy upscale dining destination.
