This Jewish-style (but not kosher) deli on the Upper West Side of Manhattan features pastrami sandwiches and hot dogs that are worth traveling out of your way for. Locals also come to Artie's for its matzoh ball soup, corned beef, brisket and other cholesterol-laden food, all of which make great leftovers. There is ample outdoor seating along Broadway in good weather, and a special breakfast menu includes omelets and a Smoked Salmon Platter. The waiters have plenty of charisma, and for the most part they are friendly and accommodating.
