One of the whackiest restaurants in the Wicker Park hip-dining zone, the facade of Souk is decorated with inverted plexi-tusks. The name is Arabic for market, and the eatery specializes in contemporary Middle Eastern food with an Egyptian emphasis. Dishes include such exotic fare as Kefta Samak (fish cakes served with arugula, roasted pepper and lemon salad) and Batta Bil Rumman (ardamon marinated breast of duck with a pomegranate sauce over rice pilaf, mixed nuts and okra). Celebrity designer Anton Paul Kobrinetz is responsible for the hipper-than-life decor, including leather-topped tables and banquettes covered with animal pelts.
